Bridal Makeup Trials
When choosing your Makeup Artist and Makeup Look for your Wedding Day, a Bridal Trial is useful to help you create a makeup look that will suit your style.
1. MAKE ENOUGH TIME
Normally I recommend 1 hour 30 minutes for a makeup trial and 1 hour for a hair trial . This is to allow for discussion at the start , some changes , accessories , photos and of course that you can relax and enjoy the experience.
2. PREP YOUR HAIR
Wash your hair the night before and style or if you can get a blowdry on the morning or if you can get both done in the one location do , treat yourself. It will give you a good idea that the whole look works !
3. GROOM YOUR BROWS
Groom , groom , groom . Get a wax , thread and shape before your trial. It will help to create the perfect eye makeup look and give you a realistic expectation.
4. SKIN PREP
Book any facial waxing or threading appointment. Have a skincare routine in place and stick to it. Exfoliate to remove any dead cells and drink plenty of water!
This ensures skin is prepped and makeup will glide on smoothly creating a wonderful bridal glow!
Book that spray tan trial or why not apply a buildable colour a few days prior to your makeup trial to give you an idea of skin colour and how it will look against cream / white of your clothing.
6. PHOTO INSPIRATIONS
Photos are so important ! Especially if you have a theme in mind. It gives the makeup artist a chance to recreate the style you want. You will also be able to get advice on what works best for your skin and face shape.
7. PHOTO OF YOUR WEDDING GOWN
Again if the dress is BOHO, VINTAGE or CLASSIC for example, there are types of makeup looks that will look better to pull everything together. Bring along a photo of front and back and also colour swatches if you have them.
8. WEAR WHITE / CREAM / IVORY / DRESS SHADE
Yes ! Its important to see if your dress is warmer or cooler in colour . This will help along with your complexion and skin colour to determine the palettes and makeup products a makeup artist may use.
9. BRING YOUR VEIL / ACCESSORIES
These are important to see that they fit comfortably into the hair and that you are comfortable wearing them. Try for fit and also that they are not too heavy for your hairstyle.
10. GET SOME FEEDBACK
Try and book your trials when you have a dinner or night out planned later on that day. This allows you to test the hair and makeup looks for longevity and also to see what others think of your style. You can then put together some feedback for your Makeup Artist and Hair Stylist if any changes need to be made.
11. BRIDAL KIT
I always recommend a Bride to purchase a blotting powder and lipstick for the wedding day. Thats all you should need to keep your foundation matte, avoid shine and top up lips after lots of hug, kisses, drinks and nibbles!
12. WE GOT YOU!!!!
As Bridal Makeup Artists we are trained in Camera Makeup, Lighting and how to ensure makeup lasts for the entire day. Take test shots to see how your makeup looks on camera in natural light and artificial light.
